Joyce hosts her private studio in the Greater Toronto Area where she provides students with a comprehensive piano course that covers weekly piano lessons as well as weekly sessions that supplement students' piano playing. Through this course, she hopes to nurture the growth of upcoming pianists that are looking for a comprehensive approach to playing the piano.
A supplemental course designed to improve student's overall musicianship through a focus on skills learned away from the piano. This will highlight the importance of ear training, dictation, and theoretical understanding in musical applications. Joyce's vision for this course is to aid and encourage the progression of piano playing through these skills that are interconnected with piano practice. With the knowledge and skills gained from the course, students will be able to further their playing with an informed understanding of the music and fast-track the learning experience at the piano.
Through weekly piano sessions, Joyce offers students various practice methods and efficient approaches to their practice sessions that will allow students to problem solve and stimulate individual experiences when playing the piano. With the weekly sessions that are offered in the supplemental course, Joyce will also monitor the student's progress in their piano lessons by creating lesson plans that cover aspects of technique, listening, and performance repertoire according to the student's progress of the piano course.
With all of the student's work that is put into their piano learning, students will apply their skills in performances through competitions, recitals, and exams. The goal of the piano course is to encourage students to become confident in the knowledge and skills that have been acquired over time by participating in public performances and engagements.
